Pokémon Sun and Moon QR Codes
The QR Code scanner (Island Scan) is a new feature introduced in Pokémon Sun & Moon. It let’s you scan codes to get the location of a Pokémon without seeing them first. But it’s much more than that. After scanning 10 codes, a rare Pokémon appears in the area and it seems that they are all not from the Regional Dex .
Regional Pokedex QR Codes
Includes QR Codes for all regional Pokémon you can collect in the Alola Pokedex. Use Island Scan in the process of obtaining.
What do QR Codes do in Sun and Moon?
By scanning a QR Code you register a Pokémon species of the Alola region to your Pokédex and find out where they live. If you scan in the QR Code for a Pokémon that you haven’t yet caught, you can check its habitat and search it out.
How do I start scanning QR codes?
We made a handy album of all the QR codes of the regional dex. Once you get the ability to scan them, do so right away, because you need a full day to scan again.
Why is this important?
You can only do this scan once a day, so there might be a timeline (or order) of which Pokémon appear. One of the first Pokémon to appear is Chikorita. This marks the second time that said Pokémon can be obtained legally on a ball other than the standard Pokeball. This does not mean that they will be able to be used in VGC 2017. Source.
